Since 2006, the LibreGraphicsMeeting (LGM) is an annual mobile meeting which brings together contributors to free graphic design softwares.
Since 2006, the LibreGraphicsMeeting (LGM) is an annual mobile meeting which brings together contributors to free graphic design softwares. Activdesign organized the 2020 edition, and reiterated it in 2021.
The first LGM edition was organized in Lyon by Gimp contributors. At the time, the idea was to have each team meeting in the same place to exchange on strategic and technical aspects, and set up shared tools. With time, conferences have been developed to complete the process. Thus, in each country where there is the LGM, interested people can meet the present contributors to create a trust relationship. Since the covid pandemic, meeting face-to-face isn't possible for the moment, so conferences are taking over, but there will be another time. Over the years, LGM has been in many countries : Poland, Belgium, Austria, Germany, Canada, Brazil, Spain, England. Most of them are European countries since most of the contributors are European. But passing through Activdesign will lead to reaching Sri Lanka by 2022, which will be big news.
In the meantime, there are several conferences (https://libregraphicsmeeting.org/2021/en/program.html) with a wide variety of subjects, from programming software to artists' demos. As the organizer, Activdesign will mostly be behind screens to make sure everything runs smoothly. However, we'll make 2 presentations :
- On May 27th at 2pm, Helen will present "Mobilise-Demobilise", a platform to perform online, in which Activdesign has participated in UXDesign and documentation.
- On May 28th at 11:30am, Cédric will present Webtoonize, a developing template for webtoonists that helps create interactive webtoons, without writing any code line.
But there will be other contributions, on Inkscape, Blender, Gimp, Krita, VR and also on new tools that certainly deserve to be discovered.
